Transparent dentures cost in London: Acrylic partial from £795 (Member £397.50), Acrylic full from £1,095 (Member £547.50), Chrome-Cobalt £1,395 (Member £697.50), Valplast £895 (Member £447.50). CQC-regulated, GDC-registered. Call 020 7183 0755.
If you are researching the cost of dentures in London, a single headline price almost never tells the full story. The fee depends on whether you need a partial denture (replacing some teeth) or a full denture (replacing a whole arch), the material chosen (acrylic, chrome-cobalt, or flexible Valplast), and whether the denture will be implant-retained for extra stability. At Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic in South Kensington (SW7), our denture fees are openly published, every plan is confirmed in writing before treatment, and dentures are designed by GDC-registered dentists in our CQC-regulated clinic.

Denture Fees in Detail
Dentures are priced by type and material because each carries different laboratory costs, clinical visits, and chairside time. A simple flexible partial replacing two teeth is very different from a full upper-and-lower acrylic case requiring multiple try-in visits. Our pricing structure separates these openly so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
| Service | Standard Fee | Privilege Member Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Acrylic Partial DentureReplaces some teeth — most cost-effective starting option | from £795 | from £397.50 |
| Acrylic Full Denture (per arch)Replaces an entire upper or lower arch | from £1,095 | from £547.50 |
| Chrome-Cobalt DentureThin metal-framed partial — more stable, less bulky, taste preserved | £1,395 | £697.50 |
| Valplast / Flexible DentureBiocompatible nylon, gum-coloured clasps — no metal | £895 | £447.50 |
| Implant-Retained "Snap-On" Denture2–4 implants + locator-retained denture per arch | Quoted per case | Implants excluded from member discount |
| Denture RepairFracture, tooth replacement, or clasp adjustment | from £150 | £75 |
| Denture Reline (refit to changed gum shape)Improves fit on an existing denture without a full remake | from £195 | from £97.50 |
| Prosthetic ConsultationExamination, impressions assessment, treatment plan in writing | £95 | £47.50 |
Fees correct at time of publication and may be reviewed periodically. "From £" indicates the starting fee for a typical case; complex cases are quoted individually in writing before any treatment begins. The Privilege Member rate is available to members of our Privilege Programme (from £20 per month); membership is not required to receive treatment. Implants used in implant-retained dentures are excluded from the membership discount and quoted individually.
Indicative Total Cost by Case Type
Most denture enquiries fall into one of a few recognisable patterns. The figures below show typical Privilege Member totals so you can quickly understand the likely investment — your written plan will give your exact figure.
| Case Type | What's Typically Involved | Member — Indicative From |
|---|---|---|
| Small flexible partial (1–3 teeth) | Consultation, Valplast partial denture | from £495 |
| Acrylic partial denture | Consultation, acrylic partial | from £445 |
| Chrome-cobalt partial denture | Consultation, metal-framed partial | from £745 |
| Full upper denture (one arch) | Consultation, full acrylic upper | from £595 |
| Full upper & lower (both arches) | Consultation, 2 × full acrylic dentures | from £1,142 |
| Implant-retained lower denture | 2 implants + locator-retained denture (implants quoted separately) | Quoted per case |
Indicative figures only — your exact total depends on the number of teeth being replaced, gum and ridge condition, any extractions or hygiene work required first, and whether implants are added for retention. Final fees are confirmed in writing before any treatment begins.
What Determines Your Final Denture Fee?
Two patients with similar tooth loss can have meaningfully different quotes. The honest reasons for that variation are clinical, not commercial:
1. Partial or full denture
Partials replace some teeth and clip onto remaining teeth; fulls replace an entire arch and rely on suction or implants. Fulls are generally more expensive due to extra try-in visits.
2. Material chosen
Acrylic is the most cost-effective; chrome-cobalt is thinner, stronger and preserves taste; Valplast is metal-free and flexible. Each has its place — we'll recommend what's right for your case.
3. Number of teeth replaced
A flexible partial replacing 2 teeth costs less than one replacing 6 teeth because there is less lab work, less material, and a simpler design.
4. Implant retention
Adding 2–4 implants under the denture transforms stability — particularly on the lower jaw — but adds significant cost (the implants themselves start from £2,950 each and are excluded from the membership discount).
5. Preparatory work
Extractions, hygiene therapy, or treatment of gum disease may be needed before final impressions can be taken. These are quoted separately.
6. Membership status
Privilege Programme members (from £20/month) receive Member rates — typically a 50% reduction — on dentures, repairs, and relines. Membership is optional; both figures are shown so you can compare honestly.

Acrylic vs Chrome-Cobalt vs Valplast: Honest Comparison
The cheapest denture is not always the right one for your mouth. Here is a balanced view so you can decide what fits your case:
| Factor | Acrylic | Chrome-Cobalt | Valplast / Flexible |
|---|---|---|---|
| Member fee | Partial from £397.50 / Full from £547.50 | £697.50 | £447.50 |
| Best used for | Full dentures & budget-conscious partials | Stable, low-bulk partial | Small partials (1–3 teeth) |
| Bulk in the mouth | Thicker (especially on palate) | Thinnest — preserves taste | Medium, flexible |
| Visible metal clasps? | No (acrylic clasps) | Yes (small, hidden where possible) | No — gum-coloured clasps |
| Stability | Good (suction-dependent) | Excellent (precision clasps) | Good for small spans |
| Repairable? | Easily | Yes (specialist) | Limited (specialist only) |
| Typical lifespan | 5–8 years before remake | 8–10+ years | 5–8 years |
Lifespan ranges are general estimates. Dentures sit on gums that change shape over time, so a reline or remake is typically expected every several years regardless of material. We do not guarantee a specific lifespan for any denture.
Denture vs Bridge vs Implant: Honest Cost Comparison
A denture is rarely the cheapest option over a 20-year period, but it has the lowest day-one cost. Here is a balanced view:
| Factor | Denture | Fixed Bridge | Dental Implant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting fee (CDC, Member) | from £397.50 | from ~£1,100 / unit | from £2,950 (excluded from membership) |
| Removable? | Yes — taken out for cleaning | No (fixed) | No (fixed) |
| Affects neighbouring teeth? | Mild — clasps can stress adjacent teeth | Yes — adjacent teeth are prepared | No |
| Bone preservation | No — bone continues to resorb | No — bone resorbs under the bridge | Yes — stimulates bone |
| Typical lifespan | 5–10 years before remake/reline | 10–15 years | Implant 15–25+ years |
| Surgery required? | No (unless extractions needed) | No (tooth preparation only) | Yes (minor oral surgery) |
Lifespan ranges are general estimates based on published clinical data; actual longevity depends on bite, oral hygiene, general health, and attendance at maintenance appointments. We do not guarantee a specific lifespan for any restoration. See our dental implant cost page for full implant pricing.
What Dentures Will — and Won't — Do
A clear expectation of outcomes is part of compliant prosthetic dentistry. Here is the honest version:
Dentures can typically:
- Restore the appearance of missing teeth
- Improve chewing ability and speech
- Provide facial support — restoring lip fullness lost after tooth loss
- Be added to over time as more teeth are lost
- Be retained on implants for far greater stability where suitable
Dentures will not:
- Prevent ongoing jawbone shrinkage — only implants do that
- Feel exactly like your natural teeth — there is always an adaptation period
- Last forever — gums change shape, so relines or remakes are expected every several years
- Provide the same chewing force as natural teeth or implants
- Always avoid an initial period of sore spots, increased saliva, or speech adjustment
If a bridge or implant would give you a better outcome and is clinically appropriate, we will tell you. Equally, where a well-designed denture is the most suitable option for your circumstances, we will say so without pushing toward more expensive treatment.
How Your Written Denture Quote Is Prepared
Step 1 — Prosthetic consultation (£95)
A GDC-registered dentist examines your remaining teeth, gums, and bite, takes any X-rays needed, and discusses what you would like to achieve.
Step 2 — Options explained
We explain the realistic options — partial vs full, acrylic vs chrome vs Valplast, with or without implant retention — and the pros, cons, and costs of each for your specific case.
Step 3 — Written treatment plan & quote
You receive a written, itemised plan showing the proposed denture, any extractions or hygiene work, the material, and the schedule of payments. Standard and Member fees are both shown.
Step 4 — Wax try-in before final fabrication
Before your final denture is made, you preview the teeth set in pink wax. You can adjust shade, shape, and position. We do not proceed to finish until you sign off on the aesthetics.
Ways to Pay
Pay as you go
A deposit is taken at the impression visit; the balance is due at the fit appointment. Card, Apple Pay, and bank transfer accepted.
Privilege Membership
From £20/month. Reduces clinical fees by up to 50% across dentures, repairs, relines, hygiene, and consultations. No tie-in beyond the standard 12-month membership.
0% finance over 12 months
Eligible plans can be spread over 12 months at 0% APR Representative through our FCA-authorised lender. Longer terms with interest are also available.
Finance is subject to status and provided by an FCA-authorised third-party lender. Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic acts as a credit broker, not a lender. Implants used in implant-retained dentures are excluded from the Privilege Programme membership discount. See our finance options page for representative examples and full terms.
Risks & Limitations You Should Know
In line with GDC and ASA standards, we do not present denture treatment as risk-free. Before agreeing to dentures you should understand:
- Adaptation period. Most patients need 2–4 weeks of "training" to adapt. Initial sore spots, increased saliva, and speech adjustments are common — and improve with adjustments and time.
- Ongoing bone loss. Wearing a denture does not stop the jawbone from continuing to shrink. The fit will gradually change and require relines or remakes over time.
- Sore spots and ulcers. In the first few weeks, pressure points can cause small ulcers. These are easily adjusted at a follow-up visit.
- Reduced chewing force. Even the best-fitting denture provides a fraction of the chewing force of natural teeth or implants. Hard, sticky, or very chewy foods may need to be avoided or modified.
- Denture stomatitis. Without proper nightly removal and cleaning, fungal infection (Candida) can develop under the denture. We will demonstrate cleaning routines.
- Clasps on partials. Visible metal or acrylic clasps can place stress on the natural teeth they grip and may be visible when smiling. We design around this where possible.
- Lifespan is finite. Even a well-made denture is generally expected to be relined or remade every 5–10 years. We do not guarantee a specific lifespan.
- Not always the best option. If a bridge or implant would give you a better long-term outcome and is clinically appropriate, we will say so — even if the denture would have been cheaper today.
Why Patients Choose Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic for Dentures
Premium Swiss/German teeth
We use multi-layered Ivoclar Phonares (or equivalent) denture teeth — with translucent edges and darker necks, just like natural enamel.
Wax try-in before fabrication
You preview the teeth in pink wax before the final denture is made. Adjust shade, shape, length, or width before any commitment.
Characterised gums
Our master technicians stain and texture the acrylic so the gums look hyper-realistic — not flat "denture pink".

Frequently Asked Questions about Denture Cost
How much do dentures cost in London?
At Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic: acrylic partial from £795 standard (Member £397.50), acrylic full (per arch) from £1,095 standard (Member £547.50), chrome-cobalt £1,395 (Member £697.50), and Valplast/flexible £895 (Member £447.50). All fees confirmed in writing before treatment.
How much does a full set of dentures cost?
A full upper plus full lower acrylic set starts from £2,190 standard (Privilege Member: from £1,095 for both arches). Implant-retained full sets are quoted individually as the implants themselves are excluded from the membership discount.
How much is a partial denture?
An acrylic partial starts from £795 standard / £397.50 Member. A chrome-cobalt partial (thinner, more stable) is £1,395 / £697.50. A flexible Valplast partial (no metal clasps) is £895 / £447.50.
How much do implant-retained dentures cost?
Implant-retained "snap-on" dentures are quoted individually after a CBCT scan. The denture itself follows the published fees above; the implants (typically 2 per arch on the lower, 4 per arch on the upper) start from £2,950 each and are excluded from the Privilege Programme membership discount. See our dental implant cost page for implant pricing.
Is the consultation included?
No — the prosthetic consultation (£95 standard / £47.50 Member) is charged separately. For Members, the consultation fee is refundable against treatment if you proceed.
How long do dentures last?
Acrylic dentures typically last 5–8 years, chrome-cobalt 8–10+ years, and Valplast 5–8 years before remake. Regardless of material, relines are often needed every few years as gums change shape. Individual results vary; we do not guarantee a specific lifespan.
Will I need extractions first?
If you have remaining teeth that are unsalvageable, they may need to be extracted before final impressions. In some cases, an "immediate denture" can be fitted on the day of extraction so you are never without teeth. Extractions are quoted separately.
How much does denture repair cost?
A standard repair (fractured base or replacement tooth) is from £150 standard / £75 Member. A reline (refit to changed gum shape) is from £195 / £97.50 Member. Major remakes are quoted after assessment.
Are dentures available on the NHS?
Yes — dentures are available on the NHS using standard materials and techniques. Our private dentures use premium teeth, characterised gums, and more lab time for a more natural cosmetic result. If your case may be appropriate for NHS care, we will say so.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Eligible denture plans can be spread over 12 months at 0% APR Representative through our FCA-authorised finance partner. Longer terms with interest are also available. Subject to status.
Why are some London denture clinics so much cheaper?
Lower headline prices often reflect basic acrylic teeth (rather than premium Swiss/German multi-layered teeth), no characterised gum work, fewer try-in visits, or overseas labs. We are explicit about what is included. Cost should always be compared on a like-for-like basis.
