Dr. Yasha Y Shirazi, our Principal Dentist and Clinical Director (GDC: 195843), has instilled a culture of rigorous attention to detail throughout the practice. Known for his work in complex rehabilitation, Dr. Yasha approaches even the simplest check-up with the mindset of a microsurgeon. Working alongside him is Dr. Andreia Phipps (GDC: 229601), a clinician celebrated for her gentle touch and expertise in Minimally Invasive Dentistry. Dr. Andreia’s philosophy is rooted in preservation—keeping as much of the natural tooth structure as possible while enhancing aesthetics.
Our 'Gentle Dentistry' Policy (No Sedation)
We understand that for many, the dental environment can be a source of profound anxiety. However, at Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic South Kensington, we have taken a principled stance on patient care.
Please note: We do not offer sedation in our clinic.
This decision is deliberate. We have found that the reliance on sedation often masks the underlying anxiety rather than resolving it. Instead, we practice "Gentle Dentistry" in its purest form. We rely on:
- Environment: A spa-like acoustic atmosphere that lowers cortisol levels immediately upon entry.
- Time: Extended appointment slots allow us to pause and explain. You are always in control.
- Technique: The use of ultra-fine instrumentation and computer-controlled anesthesia (The Wand) to eliminate pain.
1. Extra-Oral & Cancer Screening
We check the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and palpate lymph nodes to screen for early signs of systemic pathology or oral cancer. This quick, painless procedure saves lives.
2. Periodontal (Gum) Health
We perform a detailed BPE (Basic Periodontal Examination) to assess gum health. We check for pocketing and recession—indicators of Gum Disease.
3. Hard Tissue Integrity
We look not just for decay, but for signs of acid erosion, abrasion, and stress fractures. We identify "silent" problems before they result in a Broken Tooth.
4. Aesthetic & Occlusal Review
We assess how your teeth meet (your bite) and discuss potential enhancements, from Bespoke Whitening to Composite Bonding.
Examination FAQs
Does the £30 fee include treatment?
The consultation fee covers the diagnosis and treatment planning only. If immediate treatment (e.g., a filling or hygiene clean) is required and time permits, this will be quoted and charged separately.
Are X-rays always necessary?
Not always. We adhere to ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). We only take radiographs if there is a clinical justification, such as checking for interdental decay or bone levels.
How long is the appointment?
Please allow 30-45 minutes for a New Patient Examination. We take our time to ensure nothing is missed and you have ample opportunity to discuss your concerns.
